In some cases, getting professional treatment at a drug and alcohol rehab may
be the best way for people to recover. A lot of people find that they need the higher level of support that
is available during addiction treatment. This is especially true when it is their firs
12-Step meetings like AA and NA, and even
SMART Recovery meetings can all be very helpful during recovery as well. These programs promote peer therapy and
counseling, which is an essential part of the healing experience for people with addictions. But a lot of people
find that they need the expertise that comes with getting professional treatment.
It is normal to have questions about addiction treatment. We want to help people get the answers they need so
they can make the right decision for them.
A lot of people think that all they need to do is get through their withdrawal symptoms and then
they will be recovered from their addictions. But that is not the case at all, and more treatment is needed
in order for people to have the best chance at being successful. Drug rehab is the step that should come
The purpose of drug
rehabilitation is to address the underlying issues behind the addiction. Most people have reasons
for using drugs and alcohol. Some may use because they feel stressed and it is a way for them to let some of
that tension go. But others may have more serious issues known as co-occurring disorders.
disorder is a mental health issue that has contributed in some way to the person’s addiction.
Typically, people will use drugs as a way to self-medicate their mental health symptoms away. This is
extremely common, and it is why going to drug rehab is so important. The right treatment is needed to help
people recover from co-occurring disorders, which in turn can help them recover from addiction.
People Expect During Drug Rehab?
alcohol rehab is critical for all of the following reasons:
- Group therapy
- Individual therapy
Cognitive behavioral therapy.
- Art therapy
Dialectical behavior therapy
There is so much for people to learn about addiction recovery while they are in rehab.
Relapse prevention is also
something that should be covered with everyone before they finish their treatment. This can help by
identifying their triggers and making an “escape plan” for when they are tempted to use again.
There are a total of 76 drug rehab centers located in North Dakota. They all offer
various levels of care and types of treatment. Of that number:
- 9 of the facilities are sober living homes or halfway houses.
- 43 of them offer telehealth services.
- 71 of them provide outpatient services.
- 27 of them offer inpatient or residential services.
- 25 of them provide partial hospitalization services.
- 39 of them have intensive outpatient treatment programs.
- 22 of them offer long-term treatment.
Continuing to get treatment after rehab is over is what often makes the difference between a successful recovery
and getting stuck in the cycle of
addiction and relapse. People often think that once they finish rehab, they are cured and there is no
more work that needs to be done. Nothing could be further from the truth.
The reality is that the people who do the best after rehab are those who continue to follow up
with their appointments. Many people take a “step-down” approach. This means that, for example, they may
have started by getting inpatient
treatment and then they transition into a lower level of care, such as an IOP ,
PHP or even outpatient rehab.
