Many people do not realize they have a problem with alcohol addiction until they have already hurt someone they love in one way or another. What is Alcoholics Anonymous?

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is a support organization for people who all struggle with alcohol at some point in their life. This is a way for the members to help each other as they work toward sobriety. Anyone is allowed into AA with the understanding that they want to change their alcohol problem. The meetings are free and are led by peers. There are meetings held in almost every country and in the US, there are meetings in or nearby almost every city.

AA members go through the 12-step process. This is a guide for them through the alcohol problem toward sobriety. They go at their pace and when they are finished, they share their experience with someone else who needs help. Every day, millions of people are either helping someone who is in, or being helped by AA.

STRUGGLING WITH AN ALCOHOL PROBLEM?
YOU’RE NOT ALONE!

Getting and staying sober is very challenging, but with the right support network and tools, it’s completely attainable.

What is Al-Anon?

Al-Anon is for people whose lives have been impacted by the alcohol problem of a loved one. They can attend free meetings and share their experiences. They can tell their stories, offer support, share fears, feelings, hopes and frustrations. Al-Anon has principles that are applied to help them bring change and positivity to their situation even when their loved one denies having a problem.

The 12-step process is also learned in these meetings. This is a good place for people to know that they are not alone in their struggle. Al-Anon is not for a person who has an alcohol problem.
