Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon in Quincy, MA

Alcohol addiction is something that can happen over time. Maybe a person started with a couple of drinks in college to take the edge off and continued the habit until it was something they could no longer control. Thankfully, alcohol addiction recovery is not out of reach. Quincy, MA has several resources for anyone who wants recovery from alcohol addiction.

What is Alcoholics Anonymous?

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is an organization of people who come together to support each other. They all have the same thing in common: at some point in their lives, they have had a struggle with alcohol. Nearly every country in the world holds meetings, which are free and led by peers. And, in the US, they are in almost every city. AA allows anyone in. The only requirement is a true desire to change an alcohol problem. This is a good time for people to come and support each other.

One of the most effective tools used by AA is the 12-step process. This is used as a way for the members to walk through their addiction and meet it head-on. They are not required to do the steps and if they do, can do them at their own pace. When they complete them, they share their journey with someone else who needs recovery. AA helps countless people every single day.

STRUGGLING WITH AN ALCOHOL PROBLEM?
YOU’RE NOT ALONE!

Getting and staying sober is very challenging, but with the right support network and tools, it’s completely attainable.

What is Al-Anon?

Al-Anon is a meeting for the people who are affected by the drinking of a friend or loved one. People can get together with others who share similar circumstances. They can tell their stories, encourage each other, off support, share their fears and frustrations. There are principles of Al-Anon they learn to apply to their individual situation to bring about change and positivity even if their loved one will not confess to having a problem. These meetings are free to attend.

Al-Anon also utilizes the 12-step process. The good thing for members is to know that there are other people who understand their struggle and that they do not have to go through it alone. These meetings are not for the alcoholic.
