Alateen Meetings in El Mirage, Arizona

Having a family member that drinks too much alcohol is stressful. This can be even more stressful for children. Alateen is available to help teenagers through this difficult time. It is easy to find meetings in El Mirage, Arizona.

What is Alateen?

Alateen is part of the Al-Anon family groups. Alateen was created just for teenagers. Teenagers share their experiences with each other during the meetings. They also share coping strategies and support one another. This group is not for teenagers that have a drinking problem of their own.

Alateen is not a place to just hang out. The meetings are also not a place to complain about parents. Members are committed to helping and supporting each other.

Alateen and Al-Anon groups both learn and follow the 12-step principles of Alcoholics Anonymous. Alateen members also follow the twelve traditions of Alateen. Following the twelve traditions helps keep the support group together and focused. The goal of Alateen is for members to help other teens of alcoholics.

Meetings are led by one or two Group Sponsors. The Group Sponsors are adult Al-Anon members who have completed a certification process. For safety reasons the group cannot meet if the Group Sponsor is not there. If there is not an Alateen meeting available, teens are always welcome to attend the Al-Anon meeting.
