Alateen Meetings in Casa Grande, Arizona
Alcohol use disorder, also known as alcoholism, affects much more than just the person who drinks. It affects the emotions and relationships of everyone else in the home. This includes teens and children. There are support group meetings available in Casa Grande, Arizona for family members of alcoholics.
What is Alateen?
Alateen is one of the family support groups for people affected by someone else’s drinking problem. Alateen is a part of Al-Anon. Alateen is just for teenagers affected by someone else’s alcoholism. This is not a group for teens who have a drinking problem.
Alateen is a group where teens can share their experiences with others in a similar situation. Together they encourage one another with hope and find ways to cope with the problems they may be facing. This group is not a social hangout or a place to complain about the person with a drinking problem.
In the Alateen group members follow the twelve traditions of Alateen. They also practice the twelve steps of AA themselves. Alateen groups are non-professional. The leaders are adults who are Al-Anon members.
Each Alateen group is led by one or two adult Al-Anon members called Group Sponsors who have been through a certification process. Their job is to provide safety and keep the group focused on the Al-Anon/Alateen principles. For safety reasons Alateen groups cannot meet if the Group Sponsor is not there. Alateen members are always welcome at Al-Anon meetings.
