Evan Leonard, DSc, MS
Dr. Leonard is a Doctor of Medical Science and a clinical anatomist. He achieved his bachelor’s degree in human biology from the University of Miami. He received his Master of Science in Anatomy from Barry University’s School of Podiatric Medicine, he then achieved his Master of Medical Science from Nova Southeastern University, and lastly, he achieved his Doctorate of Medical Science from Lincoln Memorial University’s DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has practiced in both internal and emergency medicine at the University of Florida medical system. He has published several, peer-reviewed scientific articles, as well as a medical book chapter. He was a professor of anatomy, physiology, and medicine at Nova Southeastern University and now serves as CEO and Medical Science Director of Health Education Totalis, a health education consulting and medical writing firm.
Erin Miers, PsyD
Dr. Erin Miers is a clinical psychologist, she currently works at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center where she provides clinical services, consultation, supervision, and teaches at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth University. She completed her doctorate in 2015 through California School of Professional Psychology in San Francisco. She has expertise in the areas of trauma, substance use disorder, HIV, and working with the LGBTQIA+ population. Her research interests include the impact of burnout on mental health providers, discrimination and internalized stigma generally but also specifically in people living with HIV.

Nicole Colwell
Nicole Colwell began writing professionally in March 2012. She graduated from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1999 with a BA in Psychology with a focus on Marriage and Family Relationships. After graduation, she returned to her hometown of Elmira, New York and began working at the local Behavioral Science Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital. That position allowed her to gain first-hand experience with mental health patients and those who were in need of drug and alcohol treatment.
But writing was always something that Nicole had been passionate about. She wrote her first short story at the age of ten and then went on to publish four books, which are now available on Amazon.
Gerard Bullen
Gerard has been writing exclusively for the U.S. substance addiction treatment industry for the last 4 years, providing a range of medically-reviewed work, including white papers, long-form and short-form content articles, and blog posts for accredited addiction treatment centers.
A professional member of the American Medical Writers Association, Gerard’s specific focus is the field of substance addiction (an area that has impacted Gerard’s personal life in several ways), and he is particularly drawn to the topics of professional, evidence-based treatment, new and alternative therapies, and enabling readers to find their own sustainable, long-term recovery.
